Privacy policy
What we know about you.
Effective: 29 May 2026 · Plain English version
The short version
Anvil HUD collects the minimum needed to run a pricing workbench for you: your email, the machines and materials you tell us about, the products you save, the jobs you log. We don't sell your data. We don't serve ads. We don't share it with marketers. The only third parties we use are the ones that make the app physically work: hosting, database, payments, email, analytics. They're named below and you can verify each one.
You can delete everything we have about you any time by emailing hello@anvilhud.com.
Who runs Anvil HUD
Anvil HUD is operated by Them 3D Print Guys. Contact: hello@anvilhud.com.
What we collect
When you sign up
- Your email address. Required so we can email you sign-in links and account-related notices (receipts, plan changes).
- Your name and profile photo (if you sign in with Google or Apple). Provided by them; we store the basics so the app can address you.
When you use the app
- Settings you enter: your machines and tooling (a printer's watts and lifetime, a laser's tube, a mold's pours), materials (filament, sheet stock, resin), shop fee profiles, assumption sets.
- Products you save: the parsed inputs (a print's weight and time, a cut's geometry, a pour's grams, a thumbnail), the name and notes you give it, the shops you tag it to.
- Jobs you log: queued, started, completed, failed, with actual usage when you log them.
- Files you drop: a G-code or SVG is parsed in your browser; the values we need (a print's weight and time, a cut's geometry and thumbnail) are extracted and saved. The full file is never uploaded to our servers. Form-driven crafts like resin have no file to drop.
When you pay
- Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe (PCI-compliant, see their privacy policy). We never see your card number; we only store an opaque Stripe customer ID and your subscription status so we know what tier you're on.
When you visit
- Analytics via our own first-party analytics (metrics.anvilhud.com). Page views, referrer, country-level geography, anonymized browser/OS, screen size. No personally identifying tracking, no cross-site tracking, no third-party data brokers.
- Server logs from our hosting provider for operational purposes (debugging, rate-limiting, security). These rotate on a short cycle and aren't cross-referenced with your account data.
Why we collect each thing
- Email → so you can sign in and we can email you things you asked for.
- Settings + models + jobs → so the cost engine has something to run on; they're yours, you see them, we don't.
- Stripe customer ID + status → so the app knows what features to unlock and so you can manage your subscription.
- Analytics → so we can tell which pages are useful and what breaks. Aggregated, never tied to your identity.
Who we share it with
We use these third parties to physically run the app. We share only what each one needs to do its job, and never for marketing.
- Vercel: hosting and serverless functions. They see request metadata (IP, user agent) for operational purposes.
- Neon: PostgreSQL database where your account data lives.
- Stripe: payment processing. They handle payment details and send us your subscription status.
- Resend: sends transactional email (sign-in links, billing receipts). They see your email address and the content of the email.
- Google / Apple: only if you choose to sign in with them. They authenticate you and give us your basic profile (email, name, photo).
- Our own analytics (metrics.anvilhud.com). First-party only. Not Google Analytics, not Meta Pixel.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
How long we keep it
- Account data for as long as your account exists.
- Billing records as required by tax law (usually 7 years).
- Analytics logs in aggregated form indefinitely; raw logs typically 30–90 days.
- Server logs typically 7–30 days.
Your rights
You can:
- See what we have about you. Email us and we'll send you an export.
- Correct anything wrong. Edit it in your account settings, or email us.
- Delete your account and everything in it. Email us and we'll do it within 30 days. (Some billing records may be retained as required by law.)
- Export your catalog and jobs in machine-readable form. Email us.
- Object to specific uses. Email us and we'll work it out.
If you're in the EU/UK, you have rights under GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection). In California you have rights under CCPA (know, delete, opt-out of sale; we don't sell, so this last one is moot for us). Either way, email hello@anvilhud.com and we'll handle it.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie for keeping you signed in (an encrypted session token). That's it. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no third-party cookies. We don't need a cookie banner because we're not running anything that requires consent.
Children
Anvil HUD isn't built for kids and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
All traffic is HTTPS. Passwords aren't stored (we use OAuth providers and magic links instead). Database connections are encrypted. We're a small team and we treat your data like our own. No system is bulletproof though, so if you spot something worrying, please tell us.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes (collect new categories of data, add new third parties, change how we share), we'll update the date above and email signed-up users. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
